• Component Development - Components exist in N-Tier applications. These applications are built in several levels, or 'tiers', that allow for controlled program flow through several components. When a specific portion of the application needs to be upgraded, that particular components can be altered and rebuilt. Once the component is rebuilt, it can be inserted into the application to replace the old component. This allows for any changes to the application to be transparent to end users and applications that access the component. This form of development also simplifies program maintenance and upgrades. If you have viewed our Custom Applications section, client/server applications are simple examples of N-Tier applications, having 2 tiers.
  
• Custom Windows Controls - Sometimes in development, a required control for an application doesn't exist and must be created. These controls are either existing controls that are specialized, multiple existing controls acting as one , or completely new controls that don't exist. These specialized controls are referred to as custom controls. Custom controls allow for simplification in development of interfaces as well as high reusability within a series of applications.
